ETHANOL PRODUCER'S DATA BASE

Simplicity in Applied technology

Oranges

  • Mash:
    • Crunch or pulp the oranges to a fine consistency, do not dilute, since fruits contain sufficient liquid.
    • Adjust pH to 4.8 ( 4.5 – 5 )
    • Stir well
    • Add yeast to the rate of 0.5 Oz per gallon of mash
    • More liquid may be added in the from of backslopping with some spent beer from a previous batch, this will give more nutrients for the yeast, and recover any amount of Etahnol left in the beer.

  • Fermantation: Fermentation is done in a closed container, using a water stop cock, it prevents air from entering the beer but lets out the CO².
    • When all bubbling has stoped, the fermentation process is complete.

  • Distillation: For simple Pot dsitillation or using a side boiler as with the C803, there is no need to filter the Mash, but for continuous dsitilaltion, the Mash must be well filtered.
